Dialectical Behavior Therapy

DBT is a “broadly based cognitive behavioral treatment” consisting of individual sessions, skills training, and telephone coaching in case of crisis. DBT is used to learn to regulate emotions and how to stop or tolerate distress when it’s happening.

It is also useful to learn interpersonal and mindfulness skills. “The overall goal…is to help individuals change behavioral, emotional, thinking, and interpersonal patterns associated with problems in living.” In DBT reality is not seen as static and the idea that all ideas can be truth even if they oppose each other is very important in DBT.
